Magician Tony Steward at 007 charity event Essex

BOND FAN: Magician Tony Steward entertained guests at the Essex charity event.

Wedding magician Tony Steward added a touch of James Bond magic to a charity event which raised thousands of pounds to make some extra-special dreams come true for children and young people.

Tony volunteered his services free of charge for a 007 Casino Night which organisers have described as ‘a fabulous success’.

The event at Woolston Manor Golf and Country Club at Chigwell in Essex raised £5,400 for The Dream Factory, a charity which makes dreams come true for youngsters with severe disabilities, life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.

Dream Factory founder Avril Mills has written to Tony saying: “I would like to say a big thank-you for the fabulous performance. As always, everybody was enthralled and enjoyed your entertainment. I fully appreciate you giving up your time and offering your services free of charge.”

Tony, a long-standing supporter of the charity, said: “This was a brilliant event and it is heartening to know that the proceeds will benefit so many children and young people.”

So far, the charity has granted 135 dreams to youngsters ranging from a bedroom makeover to an iPad, a mobile phone with mp3 player, swimming with dolphins, a Butlins holiday or a day at the zoo.

Radio presenter Foxy is foxed by party magician

FOXED: Magic 105.4 presenter Foxy with party magician Tony Steward.

When magician Tony Steward made a guest appearance at the Magic 105.4 studios in London, he completely foxed presenter Foxy with an amazing trick.

Tony was invited along to help the presenter entertain colleagues and guests at a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Foxy was given a pack of cards to hold securely but when he opened his hands, the deck had vanished and he was left holding a block of plastic.

“That’s unbelievable,” said Foxy who hosted the party as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Afterwards, bosses at London’s number one music radio station contacted Tony to thank him for supporting the event on September 30. They said: “A fantastic addition to our coffee morning. Truly mesmerizing!”

Tony, a fan of Magic 105.4, offered his services when he tuned into Magic and heard an appeal to listeners to help with the charity event.

He said: “You can’t have a Magic party without magic so I put a call in. The coffee morning was great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it – it was a real party.

“Foxy loves magic and he told me he still had three playing cards stuck to his kitchen ceiling after inviting a magician to his house!”

Tony puts the magic into Magic 105.4

Magic 105.4 logoMagician Tony Steward will be adding some real magic to London’s number one music radio station Magic 105.4 on Friday September 30, 2011.

Tony, an Associate of the elite Inner Magic Circle, will be lending his support to presenter Neil Fox live on air to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support’s major fundraising event of the year – The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Foxy is once again backing the mammoth fundraiser with his own coffee morning in the studio and he has been appealing to listeners to help out.

Tony is a great fan of Magic 105.4 and when he heard the appeal, he got in touch with Foxy and offered his support. He says: “My style of close-up magic is very visual so perforning on radio is going to be a bit of a challenge!”

Although he’s keeping tight-lipped about his plans, he promises:”I’ve got lots of tricks up my sleeve … and they’re amazing!”

Tony will be joining Foxy and his studio guests from 11am and you can join the fun by tuning into Magic 105.4 on FM in the London area, on DAB, Freeview, or listen online.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised more than £8million last year and organisers are hoping to raise even more this year.To find out more about The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, visit the Macmillan Cancer Support website.

Tony hotfoots it to boost charity firewalk

Magician Tony Steward kept his cool when he received a last-minute call to help out at a charity event – a sponsored firewalk.

HOT STUFF: Tony often uses fire as part of his act ... but he draws the line at walking barefoot over burning coals!

Luckily, he wasn’t asked to join participants stepping barefoot over burning coals to raise cash for the charity Clowns in the Sky which funds research and treatment of childhood brain tumours and gives help and support to youngsters and their families.

Instead, he entertained the fundraisers and their supporters throughout the evening at the Foxhound pub in Orsett, Essex, and helped them to raise thousands of pounds.

Clowns in the Sky organiser Donna Byrne reports that proceeds from the event on September 10 exceed £4,300 and when all the sponsorship cash has been collected, it is hoped to top £5,000.

Tony said: “I’ve got several burning ambitions but walking on burning coals is not one of them – I’ll stick to magic!”

Tony’s cash drive for charity

When the going gets tough, magician Tony Steward has a reputation for pulling a rabbit or two out of the hat. So when he heard that organisers were desperately searching for a professional entertainer for a charity fundraising event in Essex, he volunteered his services … and helped them to raise thousands of pounds for two good causes.

TABLE MAGIC: Tony entertains guests at the charity dinner which raised cash for two charities.

Tony amazed guests with his close-up magic and illusions at a celebration dinner rounding off The Chris Barrell Memorial Charity Golf Day at Woolston Manor in Chigwell on Monday July 26, 2011.

Organisers are still totting up the proceeds – expected to exceed £6,000 – which will be shared by Clowns in the Sky and SupportLine. Clowns in the Sky funds research and treatment of childhood brain tumours and gives help and support to youngsters and their families, and SupportLine is a confidential service offering emotional support to any individual on any issue.

After the event, Clowns in the Sky organiser Donna Byrne paid tribute, saying: “Thank you, thank you, thank you Tony – you were great. You were like a breath of fresh air.”

Tony is a keen supporter of charities and as chairman of The Ilford Magical Society, he regularly teams up with fellow magicians to take part in shows to raise funds for charities and good causes.

He said: “I cut my teeth as a magician by performing at charity events and I never like to lose sight of that. It’s so rewarding.”
