Tony’s cool move boosts charity

Magician Tony Steward set himself an ice bucket challenge when he volunteered to help raise funds at a charity night.

He thought he would be entertaining dinner guests at Woolston Manor Golf and Country Club at Chigwell in Essex but when he arrived as usual earlier than the appointed time on 26th March 2016, he discovered there was no meal and a drinks reception was getting into full swing.

He said:”Guests were standing around in groups so I grabbed a champagne cooler from the bar and worked my way round the hall, placing the cooler on the floor as I performed.

“I couldn’t believe it … after the first group, there was £50 or £60 in the bucket and so it went on until the end of the reception when the bucket was crammed with notes.”

The event – George’s Ball – was organised by Jenna Wilson in memory of her son George and she raised more than £7,000 which will be shared between Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, and the neonatal intensive care unit at Homerton Hospital.

Jenna said:” Having seen Tony perform before I couldn’t wait to have him at my charity ball. I believed he would instantly bring a happy vibe to my guests and that’s exactly what happened.

“There were smiles and laughter and you could sense the adrenalin as they watched his amazing tricks. They wanted to see more and more and Tony left them with a sense of awe.

“The following day I had texts and phone calls about how well my charity event went and how great the magician was. I would certainly recommend Tony – if you want that something extra-special for your party then he is definitely the magician for that.”
